Solana Breaks Above $120 as SOL Rises More Than 60% From August Low
Solana’s SOL token has climbed above $120 for the first time since January after gaining more than 60% from its August low, according to data shared by Coin Bureau on X.
SOL was trading at $121, up nearly 4% on the day, after repeatedly facing resistance just below the $120 level earlier in the week. The move above that threshold marks a notable change in the token’s recent price performance.
SOL Recovers From August Low
Coin Bureau said SOL was trading near $75 in early August, putting the token’s advance to $121 at more than 60% from that level.
The token had struggled to clear $120 several times during the week before finally moving above the level. The price action comes after a period of recovery from the lower levels recorded in August.
Despite the latest rally, SOL remains slightly down for the year, according to the information shared by Coin Bureau. The token is also roughly 58% below its all-time high near $294, which was set in January 2025.
The figures illustrate that the latest advance has recovered part of Solana’s decline but has not returned the token to its previous peak.
Alpenglow Upgrade Adds Context to the Rally
The price move comes ahead of Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade, which Coin Bureau identified as an upcoming development for the network.
Alpenglow is a Solana network upgrade intended to change aspects of the blockchain’s consensus infrastructure. The development is separate from SOL’s market price, and the Coin Bureau post did not attribute the token’s move to a specific cause.
For traders and market observers following Solana, the upgrade provides an additional network-development milestone occurring during the recent recovery in SOL.
SOL Remains Below Its January 2025 Peak
At $121, SOL remains substantially markets below the near-$294 all-time high cited by Coin Bureau from January 2025. That leaves the token roughly 58% below its previous peak despite the gains recorded since early August.
The immediate price development is the move above $120 after several unsuccessful attempts during the week. The next focus identified by the reported data is Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade, which is approaching as SOL trades above the level for the first time since January.
