ARK Invest Tokenizes Venture Fund on Ethereum With Securitize
Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest has tokenized its ARK Venture Fund through Securitize, bringing the investment vehicle onchain on the Ethereum blockchain. The fund’s portfolio includes private technology companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
CoinMarketCap reported the development in a post on X, highlighting the fund’s exposure to prominent private technology companies. The tokenized offering gives eligible investors an onchain representation of interests in the ARK Venture Fund rather than direct ownership of the individual companies held in its portfolio.
ARK Venture Fund Moves Onchain
The fund, known as ARKVX, is an actively managed closed-end interval fund that invests across private and public companies focused on disruptive innovation. Its reported holdings include OpenAI, Anthropic, Stripe and Databricks, although the portfolio can change as ARK Invest manages the fund.
Securitize is providing the infrastructure for issuing the tokenized fund interests and supporting the investor experience on Ethereum. The arrangement represents a change in how investors’ interests in the fund are recorded and accessed, rather than turning the underlying private companies into blockchain-based assets.
ARK Invest’s launch marks the first of its funds to be brought onchain through Securitize, according to The Block. The fund had approximately $1.3 billion in net assets under management, based on information reported from ARK Invest’s website.
Tokenization Does Not Mean Direct Ownership of OpenAI or Anthropic
The presence of companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic in ARKVX’s portfolio does not mean investors in the tokenized fund receive direct shares of those businesses.
Instead, the blockchain-based interest represents ownership in the fund itself. ARK Invest remains responsible for managing the underlying portfolio, while Securitize handles the technology and infrastructure used to bring the fund interests onchain.
The fund also remains an interval fund rather than an exchange-traded product. Its shares are not listed on a securities exchange, and tokenization does not by itself establish an unrestricted secondary market for investors.
ARK and Securitize Expand Their Tokenization Partnership
The launch builds on an existing relationship between ARK Invest and Securitize. ARK made a strategic investment in Securitize in October 2025 as the companies worked toward developing regulated tokenized investment products and infrastructure.
Cathie Wood, ARK Invest’s founder and CEO, has described tokenization as part of the firm’s broader view of how capital markets may evolve. The latest launch puts that approach into practice through an existing investment fund, with Ethereum serving as the initial blockchain infrastructure.
