Zcash Price Faces $1,000 Risk as Inflation Fears Overshadow $3.68 Million ETF Inflows
Zcash (ZEC) remained under selling pressure on Thursday as concerns over persistent U.S. inflation outweighed renewed investment in Grayscale's Zcash-focused exchange-traded fund. The privacy-focused cryptocurrency traded near $1,094 at the time of the report, extending a roughly 6% decline on Wednesday and moving below last week's low of $1,115.
The drop extends a correction from Zcash's late-September peak of $1,698. With technical indicators still pointing to weakening momentum, traders are watching whether ZEC can hold its nearby support levels or retreat toward $1,000. A sustained close below $1,115 on the four-hour chart would strengthen the bearish outlook.
Inflation Concerns Weigh on Zcash
The U.S. Consumer Price Index showed annual inflation of 3.7%, above the 3.6% expected, according to the report. The stronger-than-anticipated reading renewed concerns about persistent price pressures and the possibility of further interest rate increases, weighing on demand for risk-sensitive assets such as cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin's vulnerability around $80,000 has added to the uncertain market environment. Further losses in the largest cryptocurrency could increase selling pressure across altcoins, including Zcash.
These broader market concerns have limited the impact of renewed demand through ZEC investment products. Although Grayscale's fund recorded positive flows, Zcash's spot-market price continued to decline, suggesting that the buying was not sufficient to offset selling pressure.
Grayscale ZCSH Records $3.68 Million in Inflows
Grayscale's Zcash-focused fund, ZCSH, attracted $3.68 million in inflows on Wednesday, according to SoSoValue data cited in the report. The positive session ended two consecutive days of withdrawals that followed two weeks of net outflows.
The reversal offers an early sign that investor demand through the fund may be improving. However, one day of inflows does not establish a sustained recovery in sentiment, particularly while ZEC continues to weaken in the spot market.
Further inflows into ZCSH could help indicate whether Wednesday's activity marks the beginning of a more durable shift in demand. For now, the price decline shows that renewed investment has yet to reverse the broader downward move.
ZEC Price Levels Put $1,000 in Focus
Zcash's four-hour chart maintains a bearish bias, with the price trading well below its key moving averages. The 50-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) is near $1,242, while the 200-period EMA stands around $1,264. Together, these levels form a resistance zone that ZEC would need to reclaim to improve its near-term outlook.
Momentum indicators also reflect weakness. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator and its signal line remain below zero, with deeply negative histogram bars. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is around 34, indicating subdued momentum while remaining slightly above the conventional oversold threshold of 30.
The immediate level to watch is $1,115. A sustained four-hour close below it would reinforce the possibility of a deeper correction. If that breakdown holds, the September 4 high near $1,050 becomes the next downside reference, followed by the psychological support level at $1,000.
If ZEC also loses $1,000, the August 23 high around $888 could become a further downside reference. That scenario remains conditional on the price breaking through the intervening support levels.
Resistance Levels Define the Recovery Path
For buyers, the first major recovery hurdle is the 50-period EMA near $1,242. The 200-period EMA around $1,264 represents the next resistance level. Reclaiming the zone between $1,242 and $1,264 would help ease the current bearish pressure.
Until Zcash recovers that range, weak technical momentum and uncertainty across the broader cryptocurrency market leave the token exposed to further losses. Whether ZEC can defend $1,115 is likely to remain central to its near-term price direction.
