Shibarium Transactions Hit 659 as Shiba Inu Network Activity Falls to September Low
Shibarium, the layer-2 network associated with Shiba Inu, recorded just 659 transactions over 24 hours on October 17, 2026, marking its lowest daily count since September 20, according to Shibariumscan data. The decline comes alongside continued infrastructure updates and an increase in the number of Shiba Inu token holders.
Daily transactions fell from 2,280 on October 15 to 659 on October 17. The latest figure also represents a sharp drop from the 5,710 transactions recorded on October 6, following a period of rising activity in September.
Shibarium Transaction Activity Slows
The decline in daily transactions points to reduced activity measured by this particular network metric. However, transaction counts alone do not capture every aspect of participation across the Shibarium ecosystem, meaning the figures provide only a partial view of overall usage.
Data accuracy also warrants caution. A notice displayed on Shibariumscan stated, "59% Blocks Indexed – We're indexing this chain right now. Some of the counts may be inaccurate." The ongoing indexing process means the reported transaction figures could change as additional blocks are processed.
Shibarium Receives Contract Deployment and Payment Updates
Despite the decline in transaction volume, development activity on Shibarium continues. Long-time Shiba Inu community member Mazrael reported that CreateX is now live on the network.
CreateX is a standard factory used by developers to deploy contracts at the same address across different blockchain networks. Its availability on Shibarium is intended to make multichain contract deployments easier.
Separately, all 12 Safe v1.4.1 contracts have been deployed at their canonical addresses through the Safe Singleton Factory, according to the source material.
The network has also activated x402, which supports two payment modes. The exact option allows users to pay a fixed price, while the up-to option lets users pay up to a specified cap. These mechanisms are designed for metered application programming interfaces (APIs) and AI agents.
AI agents using the system can make payments in SHIB, TREAT or wrapped BONE. The updates add to Shibarium's underlying infrastructure even as its reported daily transaction count declines.
Shiba Inu Adds 2,495 Holders in October
Shiba Inu's holder base has continued to expand despite the quieter activity reported across the broader cryptocurrency market. According to the Etherscan SHIB X account, the token added 2,495 holders during October.
The increase indicates that more wallets are holding SHIB, but holder growth alone does not establish whether demand for the token is strengthening. Its relationship with market performance remains uncertain.
SHIB Price Declines Over 24 Hours and Seven Days
At the time of writing in the source report, SHIB was trading at $0.00000488, down 2.98% over the previous 24 hours and 10.13% over the past seven days.
The combination of falling reported Shibarium transactions, continued infrastructure development and additional SHIB holders presents a mixed picture for the ecosystem. However, the network's ongoing block indexing means its transaction figures should be interpreted with caution.
