Ripple and Robinhood Expand RLUSD Integration With Institutional Trading and Treasury Services
Ripple and Robinhood are broadening their collaboration around stablecoin payments, institutional trading, and corporate treasury operations, bringing Ripple’s blockchain-based financial services further into Robinhood’s retail and institutional business. The agreement includes wider use of Ripple USD (RLUSD), financing services, and treasury management tools across Robinhood’s platforms.
The expanded arrangement covers Robinhood’s digital asset operations, including Bitstamp by Robinhood. It is designed to connect stablecoin settlement and institutional market access with financial services used across Robinhood’s broader business. According to the official announcement.
RLUSD Set for Wider Use Across Robinhood Platforms
RLUSD already operates on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood. Under the partnership, Robinhood plans to add the stablecoin to its trading application later this year, giving retail customers another way to access the digital asset.
For institutional activity, Robinhood will use RLUSD on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to support settlement through Bitstamp. This expands the stablecoin’s intended role beyond trading, allowing it to serve as a settlement asset within institutional financial workflows.
Ripple President Monica Long pointed to the range of services covered by the agreement, saying, “What makes our partnership with Robinhood so exciting is the breadth of what we’re building together.” She also highlighted growing institutional demand for financial services that connect digital assets with established business operations.
Ripple Prime to Expand Institutional Trading and Financing
The partnership also builds on the relationship between Ripple Prime and Bitstamp by Robinhood. Ripple Prime currently provides lending and margin financing services to Bitstamp covering approximately 20 digital assets, while institutional clients can access spot cryptocurrency trading through the exchange.
The companies intend to add support for perpetual futures trading on Bitstamp through Ripple Prime later this year. The planned integration would extend the range of institutional trading services available through their existing relationship.
These services complement the RLUSD settlement initiative by combining access to cryptocurrency markets with financing capabilities. The announcement outlines plans for additional institutional integrations, although it does not provide a specific launch date for the planned perpetual futures offering.
Robinhood to Integrate Ripple Treasury
Robinhood will also incorporate Ripple Treasury into its financial operations. The platform is intended to support cash management, liquidity forecasting, payments, and risk management across the company.
Additional functions include automating intercompany netting and coordinating financial activities across Robinhood’s global operations. The integration extends the partnership beyond customer-facing crypto services into the financial processes that support the company’s business.
Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood Crypto and International executive, stressed the importance of practical applications for stablecoins. “Utility is what moves stablecoins forward,” Kerbrat said, referring to the settlement, treasury, and institutional financing services included in the agreement.
RLUSD Growth Provides Context for the Expanded Deal
The partnership comes as the global stablecoin supply has exceeded $300 billion. RLUSD, which launched in December 2024, has grown to more than $2.4 billion in market capitalization, according to the source report.
Robinhood, meanwhile, serves 28.6 million funded customers. Its customer base and digital asset operations provide a potential distribution channel for RLUSD as the companies expand its availability across retail and institutional services.
The agreement brings together RLUSD integration, institutional financing, trading access, and treasury management. Further integrations are planned, but the announcement does not establish how much additional transaction volume or customer adoption the expanded partnership will generate.
