Robinhood Prediction Markets Could Generate $1.7 Billion in Revenue by 2028, Bernstein Forecasts
Robinhood Markets (HOOD) could generate $1.7 billion in annual revenue from prediction markets by 2028, potentially surpassing the company's crypto-related revenue, according to a forecast from Bernstein analysts shared with Cointelegraph. The projection highlights the growing importance of event-based trading products to the retail-focused trading platform.
Bernstein expects Robinhood's prediction market revenue to increase from approximately $650 million in 2026 to $1.7 billion in 2028. That would exceed the analysts' projected $1.6 billion in cryptocurrency revenue for the same year and account for roughly 18% of Robinhood's estimated $9.4 billion in total revenue in 2028.
Prediction Markets Could Outpace Robinhood Crypto Revenue
The forecast suggests that prediction markets could become a major contributor to Robinhood's business over the next two years. If the estimates prove accurate, revenue from event contracts would overtake the company's cryptocurrency business, marking a shift in the platform's expected revenue mix.
The projections were released ahead of Robinhood's third-quarter 2026 earnings report. Bernstein's outlook reflects expectations that trading activity across several product categories will support the company's financial performance, including equity trading, options, event contracts and cryptocurrency.
Bernstein Raises Robinhood Revenue Estimates
Bernstein expects Robinhood's third-quarter revenue to reach approximately $1.5 billion, representing a 13% increase from the previous quarter. The analysts cited higher equity notional volumes, options trading, event contract activity and a recovery in cryptocurrency trading volume as potential contributors to growth.
The firm also increased its Robinhood revenue estimates by 3% for 2026, 4% for 2027 and 3% for 2028. Despite the upward revisions, Bernstein maintained its price target of $160 per share, citing higher revenue assumptions for equities and cryptocurrency.
HOOD Shares Face Pressure Ahead of Earnings
Robinhood shares were poised to open lower on Monday, with premarket trading bringing the stock price down to $93.60, according to Yahoo Finance. The shares had declined more than 29% over the preceding 12 months.
The upcoming earnings report will provide investors with additional information about the company's trading activity and financial performance. Bernstein's longer-term forecast places particular emphasis on prediction markets as a potential source of growth, although the projected revenue figures remain estimates rather than confirmed results.
