Crypto exchange OKX has raised a new funding round at a $25 billion valuation, with Circle, Ripple, Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures and London-based quantitative hedge fund Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) among the investors, according to Wu Blockchain Bloomberg.
New Funding Extends OKX’s March Raise
The size of the latest financial was not disclosed. The round extends OKX’s March funding, when Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, invested about $200 million in the exchange at the same $25 billion valuation.
Bloomberg reported that the latest investors include Circle, Ripple, SC Ventures and QRT, adding a mix of major cryptocurrency companies, financial institutions and quantitative investment expertise to OKX’s latest financing.
OKX Targets Market Infrastructure
OKX said the new capital will be used to strengthen its long-term market infrastructure. The company did not disclose the size of the new round, leaving the $25 billion valuation as the key financial figure reported for the transaction.
The latest financing follows the March investment from ICE, which committed about $200 million while valuing OKX at $25 billion. The new round therefore represents an extension of the exchange’s fundraising at the same valuation rather than a newly reported valuation level.
With Circle, Ripple, SC Ventures and QRT participating in the latest round, the financing brings together investors from different parts of the financial and digital-asset sectors. OKX said its stated use of the new capital is to reinforce its market infrastructure over the long term.
