Morpho Adds Robinhood Stock Tokens as Collateral for USDG Stablecoin Loans

Morpho adds Robinhood Stock Tokens as collateral for USDG stablecoin loans, with different liquidation thresholds and market-specific safeguards.

Morpho lending markets accept Robinhood NVDA, SPCX and SPY Stock Tokens as collateral for USDG stablecoin loans.

Morpho announced on October 22 that Robinhood Stock Tokens are now supported as collateral across its lending infrastructure, allowing holders to borrow stablecoins against tokenized equity exposure without selling their positions.

The integration gives developers access to shared credit-market infrastructure they can incorporate into applications built on Robinhood Chain. “Any app can integrate credit markets for Stock Tokens,” Morpho said in its announcement.

The development expands lending infrastructure available for Robinhood Stock Tokens, but it does not mark the first time users have been able to borrow against these assets. Paboxo announced on October 19 that it was offering deposits and Stock Token borrowing on Robinhood Chain.

Morpho Markets Support USDG Loans Against Stock Tokens

Morpho's listed-market API includes lending markets that accept Robinhood's NVDA and SPCX tokens as collateral, with liquidation loan-to-value thresholds of 62.5%. A listed market for SPY has a higher threshold of 77%.

These markets provide loans in USDG, the Global Dollar stablecoin. The liquidation loan-to-value threshold determines the debt-to-collateral ratio at which a position becomes eligible for liquidation. It does not represent a guaranteed borrowing rate or eliminate the possibility of losses.

Loan terms can also differ between markets that accept the same collateral. Morpho's market listings can use different oracle addresses for a single token, meaning the token symbol alone is insufficient to establish a market's pricing arrangement.

Stock Token Pricing and Market-Hours Rules

Robinhood's developer documentation states that its Stock Token price feeds use Chainlink and update 24/5 in line with stock-market hours. The feeds also apply a multiplier to account for dividends and stock splits, rather than simply returning the underlying share's headline price.

Safeguards outside regular trading hours depend on the application. Paboxo's published explanation says that new borrowing, liquidations and collateral withdrawals against outstanding debt pause when the relevant stock market is closed. Repayments and additional collateral deposits remain available during those periods.

Those operating rules apply to Paboxo as described in its documentation and should not automatically be assumed to govern Morpho's separate lending markets.

Robinhood Stock Tokens Carry Specific Legal Restrictions

Robinhood describes Stock Tokens as tokenized debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited. The products provide economic exposure to shares and exchange-traded funds, but holders do not receive legal or beneficial ownership rights in the underlying securities.

Robinhood's disclosures also prohibit the offer, sale or delivery of Stock Tokens in the United States or to U.S. persons.
