Bitcoin Whales Accumulate 88,987 BTC, Reaching Highest Holdings Since April, Santiment Says
Bitcoin whales have accumulated approximately 88,987 BTC since September 19, pushing the group's combined holdings to more than 13.69 million BTC, according to cryptocurrency analytics firm Santiment. The total represents the highest level recorded for this group since April, as large investors continue buying despite fluctuations in Bitcoin's price.
Santiment's data covers wallets holding between 10 and 10,000 BTC. The accumulation over roughly the past month has lifted their combined balance to a six-month high, drawing attention to the behavior of large holders as market participants assess Bitcoin's potential direction.
Bitcoin Whale Holdings Reach a Six-Month High
The latest figures indicate that wallets in the 10-to-10,000 BTC range have added approximately 88,987 BTC since September 19. Their combined holdings now exceed 13.69 million BTC, according to Santiment.
The analytics firm noted that this investor group has historically shown a strong correlation with significant Bitcoin price movements. As a result, changes in whale holdings can provide market observers with clues about investor positioning, although accumulation data alone cannot establish where prices will move next.
Santiment said large holders have continued to increase their positions despite Bitcoin's price fluctuations. The behavior suggests that these investors have favored accumulating BTC rather than reducing their holdings during the period covered by the data.
Could Whale Accumulation Support Bitcoin's Price?
Santiment argued that Bitcoin could develop a strong upward trend if the current accumulation pattern continues. Because Bitcoin has a significant influence on the broader cryptocurrency market, sustained buying by large investors could also help support confidence across the altcoin sector, the firm said.
However, the company cautioned that whale accumulation does not guarantee a price increase. Although large-holder activity can help analysts assess market positioning, the reported holdings figures alone do not confirm that a rally is imminent.
For now, the data highlights a notable increase in Bitcoin held by wallets with balances between 10 and 10,000 BTC. Whether that accumulation translates into sustained price gains will depend on how the market develops beyond the holdings trend identified by Santiment.
