Zcash Rallies 20% to $1,023, Enters Crypto Market’s Top 10
Zcash (ZEC) surged about 20% over a 24-hour period, briefly reaching $1,023 and lifting its market capitalization to roughly $16.96 billion, according to market data cited by @WuBlockchain from Binance.
The move places Zcash among the 10 largest crypto assets by market capitalization, highlighting the scale of the token’s recent advance. ZEC has gained about 94% over the past 30 days and more than 2,300% over the past year, according to the figures reported by @WuBlockchain.
Zcash Gains Accelerate as Market Capitalization Reaches $16.96 Billion
The latest rally extends a sustained period of strong price appreciation for ZEC. A market capitalization of approximately $16.96 billion puts the asset at No. 10 in the cryptocurrency rankings cited in the report.
Such a rapid rise in valuation can also increase trading activity and derivatives exposure, particularly as markets participants position for further price movements. Zcash’s latest performance comes amid continued investor attention toward established crypto assets that have experienced significant changes in market value.
The magnitude of ZEC’s year-long gain, however, also underscores how sharply its market position has changed. A gain of more than 2,300% over 12 months represents a substantial repricing compared with its position at the beginning of the period.
ZEC Futures Open Interest Reaches About $2.3 Billion
Derivatives positioning has also expanded alongside the price rally. Futures open interest in ZEC stands at around 2.3 million ZEC, valued at approximately $2.3 billion, according to the figures cited by @WuBlockchain.
Elevated open interest can amplify price movements when leveraged traders are forced to close positions. That dynamic was visible in the latest 24-hour period, when roughly $36.6 million in leveraged ZEC positions were liquidated.
Short positions accounted for the overwhelming majority of those liquidations, with approximately $34.5 million in shorts wiped out. The imbalance indicates that traders positioned for a decline were particularly exposed as ZEC moved sharply higher.
For the broader markets, the combination of rapid spot gains, substantial derivatives positioning and concentrated short liquidations creates a closely watched environment for further volatility.
The next key question for Zcash markets is whether the token can sustain its newly elevated market capitalization and remain within the cryptocurrency sector’s top 10 as derivatives positioning continues to adjust.
