Polygon Reaches $3 Trillion in Cumulative Transfer Volume

Polygon reaches $3 trillion in cumulative transfer volume as the network expands its focus on stablecoin settlement and payment infrastructure.

Polygon has reached $3 trillion in cumulative transfer volume, according to an update from BSCN, marking another major milestone for the network as it focuses increasingly on stablecoin settlement.

The milestone follows Polygon’s reported $2.4 trillion in cumulative transfer volume earlier this year. Polygon’s own website currently lists $3 trillion in total transfer volume and describes the network as infrastructure for moving money and settling stablecoins.

Polygon’s Stablecoin Settlement Focus

The latest milestone comes as Polygon has repositioned its blockchain around payments and stablecoin settlement rather than primarily emphasizing its earlier role as an Ethereum scaling network.

In March, Polygon said the network had processed $2.4 trillion in stablecoin transfer volume. At the time, the company said its stablecoin supply had reached $3.4 billion, while monthly stablecoin volume had crossed $298 billion.

Polygon has since continued building its Open Money Stack, a suite designed to connect stablecoin settlement with wallets, fiat on- and off-ramps, compliance infrastructure and payment orchestration.

The network now describes Polygon Chain as settlement infrastructure for the Open Money Stack, with stablecoin payments positioned as a central use case. Its current network statistics list $3 trillion in transfer volume, 8 billion total transactions and an average transaction cost of $0.002.

Institutional Payment Infrastructure

Polygon’s shift toward stablecoin settlement has also been accompanied by integrations involving financial and payments companies.

Polygon said in April that Visa had added the network to its global stablecoin settlement program. The company reported that Polygon accounted for 34% of USD-based stablecoin transfers during the referenced period and 54% of USDC transfers.

Other developments have expanded the network’s payment infrastructure. In September, Stable.com added Polygon support for direct-to-bank transfers using USDT and PayPal USD, allowing users to fund bank transfers from self-custodied wallets.

Polygon has also reported that its network has processed billions of dollars in stablecoin transactions through payment and financial infrastructure providers. A July customer case study, for example, said HIFI had settled more than $227 million across more than 6 million transactions on Polygon since January 2025.

The latest $3 trillion figure therefore comes as Polygon continues to position the network as a settlement layer for stablecoin-based payments. The milestone also marks a substantial increase from the $2.4 trillion figure reported earlier this year.
