Pi Network’s Bigger Plan Is Becoming Clear: Why AI Could Make Verified Humans More

Pi Network is combining AI, blockchain and verified identity to build utility-driven Web3 products where real users and trusted participation could ma

Pi Network may be positioning itself for a very different kind of Web3 economy, one where the hardest thing to obtain is no longer software, but authentic users, trusted data and genuine human participation.

That idea took center stage on May 6, 2026, when Pi Network co-founder Chengdiao Fan spoke at Consensus 2026 in Miami. Her presentation, titled “Aligning Web3, AI, and Blockchain for Utility,” focused on how blockchain, verified identity and Pi’s global network could support utility-driven products in the AI era.

A recent post by @novacom_desk on X revisited that thesis, arguing that Pi Network has been steadily building infrastructure around the ideas Fan discussed.

The broader implication is significant: Pi may not simply be trying to create another cryptocurrency. Its longer-term ambition could be to build an ecosystem where blockchain infrastructure, verified humans, applications and digital ownership work together.

AI Is Making Software Easier to Build

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how digital products are created.

Developers can now use AI tools to generate code, build prototypes, automate workflows and launch applications much faster than before. As those capabilities become more accessible, simply being able to build a product may no longer provide the same competitive advantage.

Pi Network's official summary of Fan's Consensus presentation made a similar argument. As AI lowers the barriers to building products, competition increasingly shifts toward authentic data, user acquisition and trusted human participation.

That creates an unusual problem for the internet.

If AI can generate applications, content, profiles and increasingly sophisticated digital interactions, determining whether users are actually human becomes more valuable.

For Pi Network, this is where its identity infrastructure becomes particularly relevant.

Verified Identity Could Become Pi Network’s Biggest Asset

Pi Network has invested heavily in identity verification through its KYC system.

The project's founders have increasingly connected verified human identity with the future of blockchain and AI. Nicolas Kokkalis, Pi's other co-founder, also spoke at Consensus 2026 about the challenge of proving that someone is a real human online without unnecessarily exposing personal information.

This could become increasingly important as AI-generated accounts and automated agents become more common.

A digital platform may have millions of accounts, but the number of verified humans behind those accounts could be a more meaningful measure of its value.

Pi Network's large Pioneer community therefore represents more than a collection of cryptocurrency users in this model.

It could become a network of verified participants that developers and businesses can potentially reach.

Pi Is Moving Beyond the Token Narrative

Fan's Consensus presentation also challenged the traditional role of cryptocurrency tokens.

According to Pi Network's post-event summary, Fan discussed the frequent disconnect between token design and actual product innovation. Rather than treating tokens primarily as fundraising instruments or potential exits, she presented them as tools that can support user acquisition, product engagement and long-term utility.

That philosophy could explain why Pi Network has financial continued developing infrastructure beyond the Pi Coin itself.

The project has been building developer tools and blockchain infrastructure intended to support applications and services within its ecosystem.

Pi Network has also released an RPC server on Testnet, allowing developers to build and test applications using real-time blockchain data.

These developments suggest that the network's ambitions extend beyond simply creating a cryptocurrency that users can hold or trade.
