Pi Network Gets ISO 24165 DTI, Opening a New Door to Global Digital Asset

Pi Network has been linked to an ISO 24165 Digital Token Identifier, a development that could improve how Pi is identified across financial data syste

Pi Network is drawing fresh attention from the crypto community following reports that the network has received a Digital Token Identifier (DTI) under the ISO 24165 standard.

The development is being discussed as another step toward improving the way Pi is identified and referenced across digital asset and financial data systems. The information was highlighted by X user @sundaypeter8110, who described the DTI assignment as an important milestone for Pi Network.

A Digital Token Identifier is designed to provide a unique identifier for a digital token. Under ISO 24165, the system is intended to establish a standardized way of identifying digital assets across different data and financial environments.

The significance of the development lies less in the creation of a new token feature and more in how Pi could be recognized by systems that require standardized digital markets asset reference data.

What Is an ISO 24165 Digital Token Identifier?

ISO 24165 is an international standard covering the registration, assignment and structure of Digital Token Identifiers.

According to the International Organization for Standardization, the standard defines a method for assigning a random, unique and fixed-length identifier to digital tokens that meet the applicable registration requirements. The current ISO 24165-1:2025 standard was published in May 2025.

The second part of the standard, ISO 24165-2:2025, establishes the data elements used to create a one-to-one relationship between a digital token and its assigned identifier.

The system is designed to address a growing need for consistent identification across the digital asset industry.

The DTI Foundation, which serves as the registration authority for ISO 24165, describes a DTI as a unique nine-character alphanumeric code associated with a crypto asset, together with reference information about the asset and the blockchain or distributed ledger on which it operates.

This means a DTI can function as a standardized reference point for identifying a digital asset across different systems.

Why the Development Matters for Pi Network

For Pi Network, standardized identification could become increasingly relevant as the ecosystem develops and interacts with a wider range of financial and blockchain infrastructure.

Digital assets are often represented differently across exchanges, data providers, custodians, financial institutions and other platforms. A standardized identifier can help reduce ambiguity when different systems need to refer to the same asset.

ISO's own explanation of the DTI initiative says the standard is intended to support interoperability, transparency and efficiency between participants including digital token exchanges, data aggregators, custodians, service providers and regulators.

That could potentially give Pi a more recognizable reference within systems that adopt DTI data.

For a cryptocurrency seeking to expand its ecosystem beyond its existing community, standardized identification can therefore represent an important piece of infrastructure.

However, the development should not be interpreted as evidence that Pi has automatically gained regulatory approval, institutional adoption or new exchange listings.

Pi Already Appeared in MiCA Documentation With a DTI

There is an important detail that Pi Network users should understand when discussing the latest DTI-related reports.

Pi Network's own MiCA white paper already contains a field for a Digital Token Identifier and lists the DTI code 2K95TZ2QN where available. The document identifies Pi as a layer-1 cryptocurrency operating on its own blockchain.

This means the broader connection between Pi and the DTI system is not entirely new.

Recent community reports have instead drawn attention to another DTI-related registration associated with Pi Network in the DTI Foundation's public registry. Reports circulating online identify the code 2Z2WZP5KM and associate it with Pi Network.

Because the latest claim comes primarily from community reporting rather than a direct announcement from Pi Network itself, it is important to distinguish the verified existence and purpose of the ISO 24165 standard from claims about the precise status or significance of a particular Pi DTI record.

The DTI system itself is real and officially recognized as the registration framework for ISO 24165.

What a DTI Does Not Mean

The appearance of Pi in a DTI registry should not be confused with an endorsement from ISO or a guarantee of future adoption.

A DTI is fundamentally an identification mechanism.

It does not automatically mean that a cryptocurrency has been approved by a regulator, listed by a major financial institution, accepted by banks or guaranteed to increase in value.

Likewise, receiving or being associated with a DTI does not automatically trigger a new exchange listing, increase Pi's market price or unlock additional functionality on the Pi blockchain.
