Meta’s Muse AI Assistant Surpasses 5 Million Downloads

Meta Muse AI assistant surpasses 5 million downloads faster than ChatGPT, Grok and Claude.

Meta’s Muse AI assistant has surpassed 5 million downloads, reaching the milestone less than a month after its launch and recording a faster initial download pace than ChatGPT, Grok and Claude, according to data from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower reported by Cointelegraph.

Muse was launched on Sept. 8 as Meta’s personal AI agent, designed to handle tasks on behalf of users rather than simply respond to prompts. The application is currently available in the United States and Canada.

Muse Reaches 5 Million Downloads

The 5 million-download milestone puts Muse among the fastest-growing consumer AI applications during their initial launch periods.

According to Sensor Tower data cited in the report, ChatGPT took 56 days to reach 5 million downloads. Grok reached the same figure in 103 days, while Claude took 492 days.

The comparison measures the time required for each application to reach the same cumulative download milestone. The figures do not, by themselves, measure user engagement, retention or how frequently the applications are used after installation.

Muse’s growth follows a rapid rise in app-store rankings after its September launch. Earlier Sensor Tower estimates showed the application passing 2.5 million downloads within its first two weeks, before exceeding 3.4 million downloads later in September.

Meta Positions Muse as a Personal AI Agent

Meta describes Muse as a personal AI agent capable of carrying out tasks rather than only generating responses. The company says the assistant can work across a user’s everyday digital activities and operate through a dedicated secure virtual machine.

The company has also been expanding the broader Muse ecosystem. Meta recently introduced the Muse Charm, a pocket-sized device designed to provide access to the AI assistant outside a traditional smartphone interface. Reuters reported that the Muse application had already attracted millions of downloads following its Sept. 8 launch.

The rapid download growth has also coincided with increasing attention from competing AI companies. OpenAI recently introduced its Dots AI agent, positioning the product in the emerging personal AI-agent market alongside Muse.

Downloads Do Not Measure Long-Term Adoption

While download figures provide an indication of initial consumer interest, they do not establish how many users remain active or how extensively an application is used after installation.

Muse’s rapid growth also comes as Meta continues to promote the application across its broader technology ecosystem. Earlier Sensor Tower estimates indicated that Meta used advertising across its own platforms as well as external networks, although advertising accounted for only 6% of Muse’s ad impressions from launch through Sept. 19.

The latest milestone gives Meta a clear benchmark as it continues expanding Muse and its supporting hardware and software products. The application’s availability remains limited to the United States and Canada, according to the latest reported download figures.
