Binance to Launch 24/7 FX Perpetual Futures With Up to 100x Leverage
Binance is expanding its TradFi derivatives offering into foreign exchange with the planned launch of 24/7 FX perpetual futures, giving crypto traders access to currency exposure outside traditional foreign exchange market hours.
According to Coin Bureau in a post on X, the exchange will initially introduce the USDBRLUSDT perpetual contract, tracking the U.S. dollar against the Brazilian real. Binance said the contract is scheduled to go live on September 21 at 14:00 UTC and will offer maximum leverage of 100x.
USDBRLUSDT Set for September 21 Launch
The USDBRLUSDT contract will be denominated and settled in USDT, with the underlying markets representing 1 U.S. dollar against the Brazilian real. Binance's official specifications list a minimum trade amount of 0.01 USDBRL and a minimum notional value of 5 USDT.
The contract will trade around the clock, including weekends and public holidays. Its maximum leverage is set at 100x, while funding fees will be settled every eight hours. Binance has capped the funding rate at +0.375% and -0.375%.
The exchange also said contract specifications can be adjusted based on market risk conditions, including funding fees, leverage, tick size and margin requirements.
Binance Uses Different Pricing Methods on Weekends
Continuous trading presents a specific challenge for FX derivatives because conventional foreign exchange markets do not maintain the same level of liquidity around the clock.
Binance said its FX perpetual contracts will therefore use different price-index calculation methods depending on the trading session. During regular FX hours, the index will use a weighted average of prices supplied by third-party data vendors and will be updated every second. During weekends and public holidays, Binance will switch to an orderbook-based exponentially weighted moving average, or EWMA, pricing method.
The arrangement is designed to provide a pricing mechanism during periods when conventional FX markets are closed.
FX Joins Binance's TradFi Perpetual Lineup
Coin Bureau described the move as the latest addition to Binance's expanding TradFi offering, noting that the exchange already provides 24/7 perpetual contracts linked to gold, silver, oil and natural gas.
Binance has previously Cryptocurrency listed perpetual contracts tied to traditional assets, including West Texas Intermediate crude oil, Brent crude and natural gas, with those products also offering 24/7 trading and leverage of up to 100x.
The exchange said the USDBRLUSDT contract is the first FX perpetual in this new category, with additional currency pairs planned. The launch therefore begins Binance's expansion of its perpetual futures products beyond commodities and into foreign exchange.
