Trump Family Crypto Tokens Fall Up to 19% After Democrats Win Congress
Cryptocurrency tokens linked to U.S. President Donald Trump and his family suffered sharp losses after Democrats won control of Congress, with the TRUMP token dropping 19% in 24 hours and other family-associated assets extending their declines from previous record highs.
According to Coin Bureau, the TRUMP token fell 19% to $1.25, leaving it 98% below its all-time high of $73.43 recorded in January 2025. The decline marks a substantial retreat from the level reached earlier this year, with the token now trading at a fraction of its previous peak.
The sell-off also affected other cryptocurrencies associated with the Trump family. MELANIA fell 14% to $0.065 and is now 99.5% below its peak. Meanwhile, WLFI declined 4% to $0.048, representing an 86% drop from its record level.
Reuters Estimates $2.3 Billion in Family Crypto Gains
The token declines come alongside renewed scrutiny of the Trump family's cryptocurrency activities following the Democratic victory in the congressional elections.
Reuters estimated that the Trump family had made at least $2.3 billion from four cryptocurrency ventures since Trump returned to the White House. The news agency also estimated that investors had lost about the same amount, highlighting the contrasting financial outcomes associated with the family's crypto-related businesses.
The figures cover four ventures and are estimates attributed to Reuters. They do not represent a breakdown of earnings or investor losses for each individual token, including TRUMP, MELANIA and WLFI.
Democrats Plan Investigations Into Trump Crypto Ventures
The election result could also bring increased congressional scrutiny of the family's cryptocurrency interests. Democrats are set to take control of Congress in January and have said they plan to investigate Trump family crypto ventures.
The planned investigations add a political dimension to the market pressure facing the family-linked tokens. However, the reported price declines and the proposed congressional inquiries are separate developments, and the information shared by Coin Bureau does not establish a direct cause for the individual token losses.
For the three assets highlighted, TRUMP recorded the steepest 24-hour decline at 19%, followed by MELANIA at 14% and WLFI at 4%. Their respective losses from previous peaks stand at 98%, 99.5% and 86%.
