XRP Death Cross Confirmed as Price Falls to $1.30 Key Support and Resistance Levels
XRP is facing renewed technical pressure after forming a death cross on its daily chart, with the 50-day moving average falling below the 200-day average near $1.37. The cryptocurrency was trading at $1.30, below both indicators, while declining trading activity and weak momentum pointed to continued downside risks.
The bearish chart pattern comes as XRP has lost approximately 15% over the past 30 days, 29% since the beginning of the year, and 48% over the past 12 months. Its latest recovery attempt stalled near $1.40, leaving the token below several moving averages that are now acting as potential resistance.
XRP Price Faces Critical Support at $1.25
The $1.25 level is the first major support area to watch. Buyers have stepped in around this price twice during the recent decline, making it an important level for determining whether XRP can stabilize.
A daily close below $1.25 could expose the next support levels at $1.20 and $1.15. If selling pressure intensifies further, $1.00 becomes another potential downside target. That round-number level previously held as support in August.
Momentum indicators also suggest that XRP remains vulnerable. The relative strength index (RSI) is near 40, indicating weak momentum without yet reaching traditionally oversold territory. This leaves room for further declines before a potential recovery signal emerges.
Trading volume has also fallen sharply from the surge recorded in August. The decline suggests that buying activity has weakened, although lower volume alone does not establish the direction of the next price move.
XRP Resistance Levels That Could Change the Trend
For XRP to begin recovering, the first challenge is reclaiming $1.33, where the 100-day moving average is positioned. A sustained move above that level would provide an initial sign of improving price strength.
The next important resistance zone lies between $1.37 and $1.40. The 50-day and 200-day moving averages are clustered around this area, while the previous recovery attempt also failed near $1.40.
A decisive daily close above $1.40 would weaken the bearish technical signal and potentially open a path toward $1.50. Beyond that, $1.65, the October high identified in the analysis, would be the next upside level to monitor.
Until XRP breaks through this resistance zone, the broader technical picture continues to favor sellers. A move above resistance would need to be sustained to indicate a more meaningful change in momentum.
XRP Derivatives Data Show Crowded Long Positions
Derivatives indicators present a mixed picture. Long-to-short ratios on Binance and OKX are above 3, indicating that accounts taking long positions substantially outnumber those positioned for a decline, according to the reported data.
Such positioning can create additional downside risks during a bearish trend. If prices fall against leveraged bullish positions, traders may be forced to close their positions through liquidations, potentially adding to selling pressure.
Over the previous 24 hours, long positions accounted for most of the $7.25 million in liquidations reported in the analysis. Futures flows also showed net outflows over the preceding four to eight hours, suggesting that capital was moving out of futures positions during that period.
These indicators do not guarantee another decline, but they show that bullish positioning has not yet translated into a sustained recovery in XRP's spot price.
What XRP Traders Should Watch Next
XRP's near-term direction depends heavily on whether buyers can defend $1.25 and whether the token can recover above the $1.33 to $1.40 resistance range.
A break below $1.25 would bring $1.20 and $1.15 into focus, followed by $1.00 if selling pressure increases. Conversely, a strong daily close above $1.40 would challenge the bearish technical outlook and place $1.50 and $1.65 on the radar.
For now, the death cross, declining volume and derivatives positioning point to continued caution. The $1.25 support level remains a key downside threshold, while $1.40 is the main resistance level bulls need to overcome to signal a potential trend change.
