Stripe to Expand Stablecoin Card Program to More Than 100 Countries by Year-End
Stripe plans to expand its stablecoin card program to more than 100 countries by the end of the year, according to Coin Bureau, as spending through stablecoin-linked cards continues to grow sharply.
Stablecoin Cards Set for Global Expansion
Coin Bureau reported that Stripe intends to take its “stablecoin cards” program global, expanding its reach to more than 100 countries by year-end. The planned expansion would extend access to a payment product built around stablecoins across a significantly broader international market.
The scale of Stripe’s existing business network provides a substantial potential distribution base for the program. More than 5 million businesses already use Stripe either directly or through connected platforms, according to the information shared by Coin Bureau.
Stablecoin Card Spending Surges
The expansion comes as spending through stablecoin cards has increased substantially over the past year. Stablecoin card spending reached about $1.2 billion last month, a level that is roughly three times higher than it was a year ago.
The reported figure points to a significant increase in the use of stablecoin-linked cards for payments. Rather than relying only on cryptocurrency trading or transfers, the spending data reflects activity involving stablecoins through card-based payment infrastructure.
Coin Bureau’s report links the planned international expansion with this broader increase in stablecoin card spending, while the figures indicate that usage has grown materially compared with the same period a year earlier.
Stripe’s planned expansion to more than 100 countries by year-end and its existing reach across more than 5 million businesses place the stablecoin card program within a large payments network. Meanwhile, the approximately $1.2 billion in stablecoin markets card spending recorded last month represents roughly three times the level reported a year ago.
