Elon Musk Says SpaceXAI Will Be Renamed SpaceXSI

SpaceXAI will reportedly become SpaceXSI after Elon Musk confirmed the name change following Trump’s federal shift from AI to “Super Intelligence.”

Elon Musk has confirmed that SpaceXAI, the company associated with Grok, will be renamed SpaceXSI, according to Coin Bureau. The reported change follows President Donald Trump’s move to replace the term “Artificial Intelligence” with “Super Intelligence” across the U.S. federal government.

Musk confirmed the planned name change on X, days after Trump issued an executive order directing federal departments and agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in place of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official communications where permitted by law.

SpaceXAI Name Change Follows Trump Directive

According to the Coin Bureau post, Musk’s decision would change the company’s name from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. The shift mirrors the terminology adopted by the Trump administration following its September 29 executive order.

The federal order directs agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” in official correspondence, public communications, websites, reports, policy documents and other non-statutory materials. It does not require previously issued regulations, contracts or historical documents to be changed.

The order also establishes that, for its implementation, “Super Intelligence” and “SI” refer to technologies and systems covered by the existing statutory definition of artificial intelligence, unless that definition is subsequently changed. The administration has directed the assistant to the president for science and technology to submit proposed legislative language for a federal definition within 60 days.

From xAI to SpaceXAI

The latest proposed rebranding follows an earlier change involving Musk’s artificial intelligence business. SpaceXAI was announced as a new name for xAI earlier this year after SpaceX acquired xAI, according to reporting published after the latest financial announcement.

The company is associated with Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, and the broader AI operations brought under the SpaceX structure. The planned transition from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI would therefore represent another change in the branding of Musk’s AI business.

Musk’s confirmation comes as the Trump administration promotes “Super Intelligence” as its preferred terminology for the technology. The White House has described the change as an effort to reflect what it considers the advancing capabilities and potential of modern AI systems.

A Broader Shift in AI Terminology

The move places Musk’s company branding alongside a broader terminology shift originating from the federal government. The executive order applies specifically to the executive branch rather than establishing a universal replacement for the term “artificial intelligence” across the private sector.

For SpaceXAI, however, Musk’s reported decision markets would extend the terminology change into corporate branding. The next specific step is the implementation of the planned SpaceXSI name change, following Musk’s confirmation on X.
