Chainlink Reserve Surpasses 6 Million LINK as Weekly Purchases Continue

Chainlink Reserve has accumulated more than 6 million LINK, with weekly purchases continuing through its revenue-based Payment Abstraction system.
Chainlink Reserve surpasses 6 million LINK as weekly purchases continue.

Chainlink’s official reserve has accumulated more than 6 million LINK tokens, marking a substantial increase since the reserve was launched in August 2025.

BSCN highlighted the latest growth in an X post, stating that the reserve has removed roughly 6,120,000 LINK tokens from supply through its weekly purchases. The post said the holdings had reached around $88 million in dollar value, with the value supported in part by movements in the price of LINK.

Chainlink Reserve Continues Accumulation

The Chainlink Reserve was launched on Aug. 7, 2025, as part of Chainlink Economics 2.0. Chainlink said the reserve is designed to accumulate LINK using revenue generated from offchain enterprise activity and onchain service usage.

The mechanism behind the reserve is Payment Abstraction. Chainlink describes the system as infrastructure that allows users to pay for services using preferred forms of payment, including gas tokens and stablecoins, which can then be programmatically converted into LINK.

The reserve is held through an onchain smart contract on Ethereum and includes a multi-day timelock for withdrawal requests. Chainlink has also stated that it does not expect withdrawals from the reserve for multiple years.

Recent BSCN data provides a more detailed view of the accumulation. The reserve reached 6,047,498 LINK after adding 373,791 tokens during September, worth more than $4.3 million at the time of the report. Its holdings had stood at 3.06 million LINK at the end of the first quarter of 2026.

Reserve Growth Has Accelerated

The pace of accumulation has increased since the reserve was introduced. BSCN reported that weekly inflows initially averaged between 80,000 and 90,000 LINK toward the end of 2025. By the beginning of 2026, weekly inflows had risen to between 125,000 and 137,000 LINK.

The reserve also recorded significant monthly additions during the third quarter. In August, it added 462,730 LINK worth more than $4.4 million, taking cumulative holdings to 5,673,707 LINK.

Chainlink says the reserve is intended to support the network’s long-term growth and sustainability by linking token accumulation to revenue generated by actual use of Chainlink services. The company has said demand for its platform has already generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, substantially from large enterprises paying for access to Chainlink services.

Dollar Value Reflects LINK Price Movement

BSCN said the reserve’s holdings were worth around $88 million, while its more recent report placed the market value above $87 million. Because the dollar value of the reserve changes with LINK’s market price, the value of the token holdings can rise or fall independently of the number of LINK accumulated.

The latest figures show that the reserve’s token balance has continued to increase, with September alone accounting for nearly 374,000 additional LINK.

BSCN said the purchases are showing no signs of slowing. Chainlink’s stated policy, meanwhile, is that no withdrawals are expected from the reserve for multiple years, leaving future accumulation tied to the revenue conversion mechanism behind Payment Abstraction.
