Cardano Founder Charles Hoskinson Welcomes Ethereum to Midnight Network’s Privacy Ecosystem
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has welcomed Ethereum to the Midnight Network following a partnership between Sig Network and the Midnight Foundation aimed at bringing privacy features to Ethereum applications without moving their assets off the network.
Hoskinson shared his welcome in a brief post on X in response to the partnership announcement. The integration is designed to let Ethereum applications use Midnight’s privacy infrastructure while keeping their underlying assets on Ethereum, avoiding the need to bridge or wrap tokens.
How Sig Network Connects Ethereum to Midnight
Sig Network’s signing technology allows a Midnight smart contract to control an Ethereum account and authorize transactions through a threshold of independent signers. This mechanism is intended to connect Ethereum applications with Midnight’s privacy capabilities while preserving their existing blockchain infrastructure.
Through the integration, applications could shield information such as users’ balances, identities and transaction histories while continuing to interact with Ethereum-based services, including Uniswap and Aave.
The partnership also incorporates selective disclosure and compliance controls. These features are designed to let applications reveal relevant information when needed without making users’ entire financial activities publicly visible.
Sig Network, which also powers Nightmode, says its technology enables developers to add privacy features to existing applications without rebuilding them on another blockchain.
Midnight Stagenet Supports DeFi Activities
Sig Network is already live on Midnight’s stagenet, where the integration supports deposits, Uniswap swaps, Aave lending and withdrawals.
David Millar-Durrant, CEO of Sig Network, described the approach as a way to combine capabilities from both ecosystems. “What we’re doing here is we’re letting you take the best of Midnight and mix it with the best of Ethereum,” he said.
The initiative reflects an effort to extend privacy features to established blockchain applications while allowing users and developers to continue using existing services.
Midnight Also Targets TRON Privacy Payments
The Ethereum partnership follows a similar initiative involving TRON. Hoskinson has previously welcomed plans to bring Midnight’s privacy capabilities to that network, where private payments are targeted for December 2026.
The TRON initiative also involves Sig Network’s Nightmode solution. Its stated objective is to protect payment details and wallet information while retaining compliance controls and preserving the functionality of the existing blockchain ecosystem.
Midnight’s Multichain Strategy Extends Beyond Ethereum
Midnight’s cross-chain ambitions were also reflected in the distribution of its NIGHT tokens last year. The project conducted an airdrop covering users across eight blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.
While eligible users on those networks received NIGHT tokens through the distribution, Sig Network is now working to make Midnight’s privacy capabilities available to applications operating within their respective ecosystems.
Ethereum and TRON are among the networks targeted by these efforts. Sig Network has also encouraged developers working on other networks, including Bitcoin, to contact the team about integrating Midnight’s privacy features.
