Broadcom, Wall Street Firms Line Up Over $110 Billion in AI Chip Financing
Broadcom and major Wall Street firms are reportedly arranging more than $110 billion in financing tied to artificial intelligence chip purchases for OpenAI, Anthropic and other technology companies, according to information cited by Coin Bureau from the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and the Financial Times.
Broadcom Arranges OpenAI Chip Financing
Broadcom is arranging more than $50 billion in financing for custom chips being developed for OpenAI, with Apollo and Blackstone among the lenders involved in early discussions, the Wall Street Journal reported. The financing would support OpenAI's requirements for custom artificial intelligence chips as demand for computing infrastructure continues to expand.
A separate financing package worth $60 billion would fund chips for Anthropic and other customers, according to Bloomberg. Blackstone is leading an $18 billion portion of that package, according to the report cited by Coin Bureau.
Together, the two reported financing arrangements represent more than $110 billion in planned funding for AI chip purchases associated with OpenAI, Anthropic and others. The figures cover the reported Broadcom-related packages and do not include the additional financing discussions involving Oracle and SpaceX.
Oracle and SpaceX Pursue Additional Chip Funding
Oracle is also in talks with Apollo and Goldman Sachs to finance a large chip purchase, according to the Wall Street Journal. The report did not provide a specific value for the proposed Oracle financing in the source material.
Separately, SpaceX is seeking $40 billion in financing for Nvidia chips, according to the Financial Times. The reported funding effort adds another large-scale transaction to a series of financing discussions involving major technology companies and AI infrastructure suppliers.
The reported deals involve several of the largest financial institutions and technology companies, with Apollo, Blackstone and Goldman Sachs appearing in financing discussions tied to AI computing demand. The reported figures include more than $50 billion for OpenAI's custom chips, a $60 billion package for Anthropic and others, and a separate $40 billion funding effort by SpaceX for Nvidia chips.
