ZetaChain Holders Approve ZETA Migration to Solana With 99.4% Vote

ZetaChain holders approve a 99.4% proposal to migrate ZETA to Solana and wind down its Layer 1, pending a second governance vote.
ZetaChain approves 99.4% vote to migrate ZETA to Solana and wind down its Layer 1.

ZetaChain tokenholders have approved a proposal to wind down the project’s Layer 1 blockchain and migrate its native ZETA token to Solana, with 99.4% of participating voting power supporting the measure.

Cointelegraph reported the governance result in a post on X. The vote, identified as Proposal 68, passed with participation reaching 58%, above ZetaChain’s 40% quorum requirement.

The approval sets the direction for the proposed transition but does not immediately shut down ZetaChain’s network or complete the token migration. A second governance proposal is still required to establish the operational terms.

ZETA Migration Would Move the Token to Solana

Under the approved proposal, ZETA would become a native SPL token on Solana through a 1:1 conversion while retaining the same ticker and total supply. The proposal specifically concerns ZETA native to the ZetaChain Layer 1.

The network will continue operating while the next stage of the governance process is prepared. Validators and staking remain active during the transition, meaning the first vote does not itself establish an immediate shutdown date.

The distinction is important for holders because the migration mechanics have not yet been finalized. ZetaChain’s governance proposal states that a second proposal will determine the implementation and timing of the transition.

Second Vote Will Set Migration Terms

The follow-up proposal is expected to establish several key details, including the balance snapshot block height, the shutdown timetable, the process for claiming tokens on Solana and the withdrawal period for assets connected to other blockchains. Exchange conversion arrangements are also part of the transition process.

ZetaChain has said the second proposal will follow confirmation from exchanges regarding their token-swap arrangements. No firm shutdown date has been established in the first vote.

ZETA already circulating on Ethereum and BNB Chain is outside the scope of the proposed migration, which applies to the native asset on ZetaChain’s own Layer 1.

ZetaChain Shifts Focus Toward Anuma

The proposed blockchain wind-down is tied to a broader strategic shift by ZetaChain toward Anuma, its private artificial intelligence application. The project’s proposal describes Solana as the planned home for both ZETA and Anuma.

ZetaChain originally built its Layer 1 around blockchain interoperability, but the current proposal would remove the need to maintain that independent network while the project develops its AI-focused application on Solana.

For now, the governance process remains incomplete. The 99.4% vote approves the proposed direction, while the technical migration, shutdown schedule and other implementation terms remain subject to the second proposal.
