Zcash Shielded Transactions Reach Highest Weekly Level Since 2022
The weekly total represents the highest number of shielded transactions recorded since 2022 and ranks fourth across the full on-chain series, BSCN reported in a post on X. The figures cover transactions conducted through Zcash's shielded pools, which are designed to keep transaction details private.
Shielded Activity Reaches Four-Year High
The 62,379 transactions recorded during the week mark a sharp increase from the relatively low levels of shielded activity seen across much of the period since 2022.
Zcash's shielded transaction system allows users to conduct transfers without publicly exposing the sender, recipient and transaction amount. The network currently supports multiple shielded pools, including Sapling, Orchard and Ironwood. Recent blockchain data shows that shielded pools collectively hold about 4.91 million ZEC.
The latest weekly figure remains below Zcash's historical peak. Data published on the recent activity shows the largest weekly total was 135,389 shielded transactions recorded between June 20 and June 26, 2022. The latest reading therefore represents the fourth-highest weekly total in the available series.
ZEC Price Also Records Sharp Gains
The increase in shielded activity comes alongside a substantial move in ZEC's market price.
BSCN reported that Zcash's native token had gained 36% over the previous seven days and was up 216% year to date, reaching $1,610. Those figures were included in the same post highlighting the rise in shielded transactions.
The price performance and network activity are separate measurements, and the data cited by BSCN does not establish a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the two. The transaction figures instead provide a measure of activity within Zcash's privacy-focused infrastructure.
Privacy Infrastructure Remains Central to Zcash
Shielded transactions remain a defining feature of the Zcash network, allowing transaction information to be protected through zero-knowledge cryptography while still enabling the network to verify transactions.
Recent development work has also continued around Zcash's infrastructure. Zcash Open Development Lab maintains software including the Zebra full-node implementation and Zodl wallet projects, while the Zcash Foundation's latest engineering update described ongoing work involving node reliability, lower transaction fees and shielded-pool monitoring.
For the latest activity measure, the immediate milestone is the 62,379 shielded transactions recorded in a single week. That places the recent figure among the strongest weekly readings in Zcash's on-chain history, while remaining below the record established in 2022.
