Vitalik Buterin Welcomes Trueo as Prediction Market Moves From Base to Ethereum

Trueo plans to migrate its prediction market from Base to Ethereum, earning Vitalik Buterin’s praise for its decentralized and ethical approach.
Vitalik Buterin welcomes Trueo as the decentralized prediction market prepares to migrate from Base to Ethereum mainnet.

Trueo is preparing to migrate its decentralized prediction market from Base to Ethereum mainnet, drawing public support from Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who described the project as ethical and not “corposlop.”

Cointelegraph reported the development after Buterin commented on Trueo’s planned move to Ethereum Layer 1. The protocol launched on Base in March 2025 and said Ethereum now offers stronger integration opportunities and greater potential for the next stage of its development.

Trueo Plans Ethereum Mainnet Migration

Trueo said Base was an appropriate environment when the project was initially launched because Ethereum mainnet transaction costs were higher and some elements of the application were still experimental.

The project now wants to build Trueo as a widely integrated, permissionless and largely immutable prediction-market platform. It said Ethereum is better suited to that objective because of its broader network effects, liquidity and integration opportunities.

Trueo’s stated priorities following the migration include attracting liquidity to key market categories and developing the next generation of its oracle system. The oracle is responsible for determining outcomes based on real-world events and resolving prediction markets.

The protocol’s co-founder, known as “Lumberg,” said on X that Ethereum is the preferred environment for building what he described as a “credibly neutral and truthful” oracle and prediction-market system.

Vitalik Buterin Calls Trueo Ethical

Buterin welcomed Trueo’s planned arrival on Ethereum L1 in an X post. He characterized the project as a strong new prediction-market contender focused on decentralization and described it as ethical and not “corposlop.”

Buterin also said the project was attempting to pursue meaningful applications for prediction markets as an economic primitive. His comments represent a public endorsement of Trueo’s stated focus, rather than an announcement of a formal partnership between the project and the Ethereum Foundation.

Trueo is currently a relatively small participant in the onchain prediction-market sector. Cointelegraph reported that DefiLlama ranked the protocol as the 14th-largest onchain prediction market, with total value locked of $795,687.

Oracle Development Remains a Key Focus

Trueo has placed particular emphasis on the reliability and neutrality of its market-resolution infrastructure. The project said its goal is to create prediction markets capable of producing credible outcomes even when disputes are contentious or financial stakes are high.

The migration is not expected to immediately terminate Trueo’s existing Base markets. The project said its Base application will remain available during the transition, while existing markets can continue through their designated expiration dates. It has also advised users not to create new Base markets that expire after January 31, 2027, and to use the Ethereum deployment for longer-dated markets once it becomes available.

Trueo’s TRUE token will remain the protocol’s native token, with holders able to migrate their tokens to Ethereum. The project said the token migration window will remain open indefinitely.

The timing for the Ethereum deployment has not been specified. Until the new instance is available, Trueo’s existing Base infrastructure remains part of the transition, while the project works toward its planned Ethereum-based prediction-market and oracle system.
