Vitalik Buterin Rejects AI Cybersecurity Risk Claim
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has rejected the argument that increasingly capable artificial intelligence could make cybersecurity effectively unwinnable, saying advanced AI may eventually give defenders tools comparable to or stronger than those available to attackers.
Buterin’s comments, shared by Wu Blockchain, center on the longer-term relationship between AI capabilities and software security. Rather than assuming that AI-powered hackers will permanently gain the upper hand, he argued that the same advances could be applied to verifying and securing software systems.
Buterin Links Crypto Holdings to AI Security Outlook
Buterin also connected his view of AI-driven cybersecurity to his own exposure to cryptocurrency. He said that continuing to hold crypto represents a bet on the possibility that defensive capabilities will keep pace with, or exceed, offensive AI capabilities.
