Trump-Linked $800M WLFI Position Enters Vesting Contract Until May 2028

WLFI tokens matching Trump’s roughly $800M holding enter a vesting contract, with 10% burned and sales blocked until May 2028.

A World Liberty Financial (WLFI) token position matching the cryptocurrency holdings disclosed by President Donald Trump, valued at roughly $800 million, has been transferred into a vesting contract that prevents sales until May 2028.

According to CoinMarketCap, the transaction also triggered a requirement to burn 10% of the tokens placed into the new vesting arrangement. On-chain data reported by CoinDesk shows that the position matching Trump’s disclosed holdings was moved into the contract as part of a broader restructuring of locked founder allocations.

WLFI Tokens Face Two-Year Lock Before Potential Sales

The vesting arrangement establishes a defined timeline for tokens that had previously been subject to an indefinite lock. Participating founder allocations face a two-year cliff before tokens can begin to become transferable, followed by a three-year linear vesting period.

The structure means the earliest potential sales from the position described in the CoinMarketCap post would occur in May 2028. The 10% burn reduces the number of tokens retained under the vesting arrangement, while the remaining allocation becomes subject to the scheduled release mechanism.

The broader finance vesting framework was approved through WLFI governance earlier this year. Under the proposal, founders, team members, advisers and partners who opt into the new structure must permanently burn 10% of their allocation and accept a two-year cliff followed by three years of linear vesting.

Trump’s WLFI Holdings Draw Continued Market Attention

The transfer is significant because of the size of the position and its connection to Trump’s disclosed financial interests. Public records and on-chain analysis have been used to match certain WLFI wallets with allocations associated with Trump and other founders, although blockchain addresses do not independently establish personal control without additional evidence.

For WLFI markets, the vesting structure provides greater visibility into the potential timing of future token supply entering circulation. At the same time, the two-year cliff means the position will remain unavailable for sale during that period, limiting immediate supply from the affected allocation.

The arrangement also comes as U.S. lawmakers debate stricter ethics provisions for government officials holding cryptocurrency. The Senate’s consideration of the CLARITY Act includes provisions concerning conflicts of interest and digital-asset holdings by senior public officials, adding regulatory significance to the treatment of Trump-linked crypto assets.

The immediate market focus will be on whether other founder and insider allocations enter the same vesting structure and how the scheduled May 2028 unlock is ultimately handled.
