Ric Edelman Predicts Bitcoin Will Reach $500,000 by 2030
Edelman has previously explained the $500,000 projection through a portfolio-allocation argument. In a February 2026 interview with Altcoin Daily, he said a 1% allocation of global assets to Bitcoin could translate into about $7.5 trillion of inflows, based on his estimate of roughly $750 trillion in global stocks, bonds, real estate, gold and cash.
Edelman's Bitcoin Price Target
The $500,000 target is based on Edelman's view that Bitcoin ownership could expand among a broader range of investors and institutions. He has identified governments, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, hedge funds, insurance companies, banks and brokerages among potential sources of additional Bitcoin allocation.
Edelman has described his calculation as straightforward: if diversified portfolios around the world allocate 1% to Bitcoin, the resulting capital flow, combined with Bitcoin's existing value, could support a price of approximately $500,000 per coin. His argument therefore depends on a change in portfolio allocation rather than a specific Bitcoin network upgrade, regulatory decision or individual market event.
A Forecast Based on Portfolio Allocation
The forecast remains an estimate based on assumptions about future investment behavior. The 1% allocation scenario does not establish that global investors will actually direct that amount of capital into Bitcoin.
Edelman has also said that some investors are already allocating more than 1% of their portfolios to digital assets. In earlier comments, he has advocated significantly larger crypto allocations depending on an investor's risk tolerance, although those broader recommendations are separate from the specific assumptions behind his $500,000 Bitcoin target.
His 2030 projection has been reiterated in 2026. The DACFP's own website lists a March 5, 2026 discussion with CoinDesk titled "Why Ric Edelman Still Sees Bitcoin at $500,000 by 2030," confirming that the target remains part of his public outlook.
Volatility Remains Part of the Outlook
Edelman's projection does not imply a straight-line increase in Bitcoin's price. In discussing the forecast, he has said the path toward $500,000 would be volatile rather than a continuous rise.
The specific forecast reported by Whale Insider is therefore a long-term scenario tied to Edelman's assumptions about global portfolio allocation. The stated target is $500,000 by 2030.
