Nvidia Considers $10 Billion Investment in Anthropic’s Potential $100 Billion IPO
Nvidia is considering an investment of up to $10 billion in Anthropic’s planned initial public offering, potentially becoming an anchor investor @coinbureau in a deal that could raise as much as $100 billion and value the artificial intelligence company at around $2 trillion.
The discussions were reported by Reuters, citing two people familiar with the matter. The plans remain under discussion and could change. Anthropic has not commented, while Nvidia did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
Anthropic Targets Record-Setting IPO
If completed at the proposed scale, Anthropic’s offering would rank among the largest IPOs ever and could set a new record. The company is reportedly targeting a public listing before the U.S. midterm elections in November.
The potential offering follows Anthropic’s $65 billion fundraising round in May, which valued the company at $965 billion. By the end of July, its annualized revenue run rate had surpassed $65 billion, highlighting the rapid expansion that has driven its private-market valuation.
The scale of the proposed IPO would also test investor appetite for the enormous capital requirements and valuations attached to leading AI companies. U.S. IPO activity has already reached record levels in 2026, with $137 billion raised through the first eight months of the year, excluding special-purpose acquisition companies.
Nvidia and Anthropic Have Deepening Business Ties
Nvidia’s potential role as an anchor investor would further strengthen an already financial significant relationship between the chipmaker and Anthropic.
Anthropic relies heavily on Nvidia’s GPUs for computing capacity. The companies also announced a broader partnership in November 2025 under which Nvidia planned to invest up to $10 billion, while Anthropic committed to purchase $30 billion of Microsoft Azure computing capacity powered by Nvidia chips.
For public-markets investors, the proposed investment could therefore carry significance beyond the size of Nvidia’s commitment. Nvidia would potentially be both a major technology supplier to Anthropic and an early investor in its public equity.
The immediate question is whether Anthropic can secure sufficient anchor commitments to support a $100 billion offering and justify a valuation near $2 trillion. Those terms remain unfinalized ahead of any formal IPO filing.
