MOEX to Launch Bitcoin, XRP, SOL, ETH and TRX Futures

Moscow Exchange will launch perpetual futures tied to BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and TRX on September 22 for qualified investors.

Moscow Exchange (MOEX), Russia’s largest stock exchange, will begin trading perpetual futures linked to indices tracking Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP and TRON on September 22, expanding its existing range of cryptocurrency derivatives.

The new contracts will be available exclusively to qualified investors. They will be quoted in U.S. dollars, while settlement will be conducted in Russian rubles and will not involve delivery of the underlying digital assets, according to information shared by Wu Blockchain.

Five Crypto-Linked Futures Contracts

The contracts will track Moscow Exchange indices for the five cryptocurrencies rather than provide direct ownership or delivery of the underlying tokens. The exchange has identified the instruments as BTCUSDF, ETHUSDF, SOLUSDF, XRPUSDF and TRXUSDF, corresponding to the MOEXBTC, MOEXETH, MOEXSOL, MOEXXRP and MOEXTRX indices.

Moscow Exchange describes the products as one-day futures contracts with automatic rollover. This structure allows an open position to be carried into the following trading day rather than reaching a conventional fixed expiration date. The contracts are cash-settled, meaning investors receive or pay the financial result of the position without receiving the cryptocurrency itself.

The dollar quotation and ruble settlement create a structure in which the referenced crypto indices are expressed in U.S. dollars while financial settlement takes place through the Russian market infrastructure in rubles.

Existing Crypto Derivatives Activity

The launch builds on cryptocurrency derivatives that Moscow Exchange introduced last summer. According to the exchange, more than 72,000 qualified investors have traded its crypto-linked futures since those first products were launched.

Cumulative trading volume across those instruments has exceeded RUB 600 billion, according to Moscow Exchange. The figure relates to the exchange's existing cryptocurrency derivatives activity and does not represent trading volume for the new perpetual contracts, which have not yet begun trading.

Moscow Exchange has also continued expanding its crypto-related derivatives lineup. In May, it announced new futures linked to its Solana, XRP and TRON indices, with access restricted to qualified investors.

Trading Begins September 22

The five new contracts are scheduled to start trading on September 22. Their availability will remain limited to qualified investors under the exchange's stated access conditions.

The instruments therefore provide exposure to price movements in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP and TRON through exchange-listed derivatives rather than through direct purchases of the cryptocurrencies. The next defined milestone is the September 22 start of trading for the five perpetual futures contracts.
