Michael Saylor Hints at More Bitcoin Buying as Strategy Leads Nasdaq-100
Michael Saylor has hinted that Strategy may have resumed buying Bitcoin after the company’s shares became the top-performing stock in the Nasdaq-100 last month.
Coin Bureau highlighted Saylor’s latest post on X, in which the Strategy executive chairman shared his familiar Bitcoin holdings chart with an orange-themed visual. The post did not disclose a new purchase, but Saylor has previously used similar charts ahead of official Bitcoin acquisition announcements. CoinDesk reported that Strategy had not purchased Bitcoin for two consecutive weeks as of its latest filing.
Strategy’s shares were reported by Coin Bureau to have gained 48% last month and risen another 16% to $153 in the session referenced by the post. The company’s stock performance placed it at the top of the Nasdaq-100 for the previous month.
Strategy Holds 845,050 Bitcoin
Strategy currently holds 845,050 BTC, according to its latest reported holdings. The company accumulated those coins at a total cost of about $63.73 billion, with an average purchase price of $75,412 per Bitcoin.
The figure represents more than 4% of Bitcoin’s maximum supply of 21 million coins. Based on the valuation cited by Coin Bureau, the holdings were worth approximately $68.69 billion.
Strategy’s latest confirmed purchase came between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30, when the company acquired 4,603 BTC for approximately $369.7 million at an average price of $80,318 per coin. The purchase lifted its holdings to the current 845,050 BTC total.
The company subsequently reported no Bitcoin purchases or sales during the following two weeks. Its Sept. 14 filing showed that the Bitcoin balance remained unchanged at 845,050 BTC.
Saylor’s Orange Chart Is Not Yet a Purchase Confirmation
Saylor’s latest chart is being interpreted by market observers as a possible indication of another acquisition, but the post itself does not confirm that Strategy has bought additional Bitcoin.
CoinDesk noted that Saylor has used the same style of holdings chart and orange references around previous purchase disclosures. Strategy reports its Bitcoin transactions through regulatory filings, meaning an official filing remains the confirmation of any new acquisition.
The distinction is significant because Strategy’s Bitcoin balance had remained unchanged through the latest disclosed reporting period. Any additional purchase would therefore represent a new transaction beyond the 845,050 BTC currently reported.
For now, Saylor’s post provides an indication rather than a confirmed change in Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings. The next official disclosure will determine whether the company added to its position following the two-week pause.
