Grayscale Zcash ETF inflows and ZEC holdings

Grayscale’s Zcash ETF recorded $46.6M in inflows on September 17 and $60.5M for the week, with holdings reaching 3.54% of ZEC supply.
Grayscale Zcash ETF records $46.6 million inflow and holds 3.54% of ZEC supply.

Grayscale’s spot Zcash ETF has recorded strong investor inflows less than a month after launching, with the product absorbing $46.6 million on September 17 and $60.5 million during the week, according to data shared by BSCN.

The fund, which trades under the ticker ZCSH, began trading on NYSE Arca on August 25. It was the first exchange-traded product to offer spot exposure to ZEC, according to Grayscale.

Zcash ETF Sees $46.6M in One Day

BSCN said the Grayscale spot ZEC ETF has outperformed nearly all other altcoin ETFs since its launch, citing its pace of capital inflows as a key measure of its early performance.

The product recorded $46.6 million in investor capital on September 17 alone, bringing its total inflows for the week to $60.5 million, according to the figures cited by BSCN.

The reported inflows come shortly after Grayscale disclosed that the fund had accumulated more than $500 million in assets under management as of September 8. Grayscale said that figure included more than $70 million in cumulative inflows during the fund’s first two weeks, in addition to a separate $100 million investment.

Fund Holds 3.54% of ZEC Supply

BSCN also reported that the ETF now holds roughly 3.54% of Zcash’s total supply, underscoring the scale of the assets held by the exchange-traded product relative to the cryptocurrency’s supply.

The fund is structured to hold ZEC, with its shares providing investors with exposure to the digital asset through a traditional exchange-traded vehicle rather than requiring them to purchase and custody ZEC directly. Grayscale’s filings state that the trust’s purpose is to hold Zcash and that its shares are designed to reflect the value of the ZEC held by the fund, less applicable expenses and liabilities.

The fund’s holdings also received a substantial increase earlier in September after DCG acquired approximately $100 million of Zcash ETF shares through an authorized participant in exchange for 85,705.32563297 ZEC, according to a September 8 SEC filing.

Grayscale Announces 3-for-1 Share Split

The latest inflow figures come as Grayscale prepares a 3-for-1 forward share split for ZCSH. The company announced the split on September 18, with shareholders of record at the market close on September 28 set to receive two additional shares for every share held.

The additional shares are scheduled to be distributed after the market closes on September 29, while split-adjusted trading is expected to begin before the market opens on September 30. The fund will continue trading on NYSE Arca under the ZCSH ticker.
