Bitget Exploiter Attempted to Route Stolen Funds Through Chainflip, MistTrack Says

The exploiter behind the Bitget attack attempted to move stolen funds through cross-chain liquidity protocol Chainflip, but the transaction was rejected at the broker interface, according to on-chain monitoring by SlowMist’s tracking arm MistTrack.

MistTrack reported that the attempted deposit was rejected with the message “deposit rejected by the broker,” preventing the stolen assets from being routed through Chainflip.

Chainflip Deposit Rejected

According to data shared by Wu Blockchain, the transaction involved an attempt by the Bitget exploiter to use Chainflip to move the stolen funds across networks.

The transaction did not result in the capital being frozen by the protocol. Instead, Chainflip refunded the deposit directly to the sender after the broker rejected the transaction.

The sequence effectively prevented the attacker from completing the attempted transfer through Chainflip, according to MistTrack’s monitoring.

Funds Returned to Sender

MistTrack’s observation provides a specific account of what happened to the attempted deposit. Rather than remaining within the protocol after the rejection, the funds were returned to the originating address.

The distinction is important because the transaction was stopped at the broker interface rather than through a reported protocol-level freeze of the assets. The returned funds therefore remained with the sender after the attempted routing failed.

The incident illustrates how monitoring and transaction screening at intermediary interfaces can affect attempts to move funds associated with a crypto exploit. However, MistTrack’s report specifically concerns the failed Chainflip transaction and does not establish what happened to the broader pool of stolen funds.

Bitget Exploit Tracking

The attempted Chainflip transaction forms part of the ongoing on-chain tracking of funds linked to the Bitget exploit. MistTrack, the tracking arm of blockchain security firm SlowMist, identified the movement and reported the rejection at the broker interface.

For the transaction in question, the immediate outcome was that the deposit was rejected and the funds were refunded directly to the sender rather than successfully routed through Chainflip.
