Binance to Launch FX Perpetual Futures With Up to 100x Leverage
Binance is expanding its into foreign exchange markets, with its first FX perpetual futures contract scheduled to go live on Sept. 21 with leverage of up to 100x, according to CoinMarketCap.
The initial contract, USDBRLUSDT, will track the U.S. dollar against the Brazilian real and settle in USDT. Binance’s official announcement said trading is scheduled to begin at 14:00 UTC on Sept. 21, with the contract available around the clock.
Binance Expands TradFi Perps Into FX
The launch extends Binance’s existing TradFi Perps category, which provides perpetual contracts tied to traditional financial assets rather than cryptocurrencies. Binance says these products allow users to trade price movements of traditional assets through USDT-settled contracts without directly owning the underlying asset.
The USDBRLUSDT contract will use the U.S. dollar-to-Brazilian-real exchange rate as its underlying market. Positions will be settled in USDT, while the maximum available leverage is set at 100x.
The contract will have a minimum trade amount of 0.01 USDBRL and a minimum notional value of 5 USDT. Binance has also set a capped funding rate of plus or minus 0.375%, with funding fees settled every eight hours.
FX Contract Designed for 24/7 Trading
Unlike traditional foreign exchange markets, the new perpetual contract will remain available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Binance has established different price-index calculation methods for regular trading periods and periods when conventional FX markets are closed.
During regular FX market hours, the price index will be updated every second using a weighted average of constituent prices supplied by third-party data vendors. During weekends and public holidays, Binance will use an order-book exponentially weighted moving average, or EWMA, for the pricing mechanism.
The structure is intended to allow the derivative to continue trading when the underlying traditional FX market is outside its regular operating hours. Binance has previously used similar mechanisms for its TradFi perpetual products, which include contracts linked to assets such as gold and silver.
USDBRLUSDT Set for Sept. 21 Debut
Binance’s announcement specifies Sept. 21 at 14:00 UTC as the launch time for USDBRLUSDT. The exchange also said contract parameters, including leverage, funding fees, tick size and margin requirements, may be adjusted depending on markets risk conditions.
The first FX perpetual therefore marks the next stage of Binance’s TradFi Perps expansion, with the USDBRLUSDT contract becoming available on Sept. 21 under the exchange’s stated 24/7 trading framework.
