TRON Mainnet Voting Begins on Proposal 107 as Network Upgrade Targets August 28 Activation

TRON Proposal 107 enters mainnet voting on August 25, with TVM upgrades targeting August 28 activation and new smart contract features.

TRON's community began voting on Committee Proposal No. 107 on August 25, 2026, on a package of technical changes designed to expand smart contract capabilities, improve security and reduce computing costs across the network.

If approved by the network's elected Super Representatives, the upgrade is scheduled to take effect on August 28, 2026, at 14:00 SGT. The proposal incorporates features associated with Ethereum's Prague and Osaka upgrades into TRON's GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 release, known as Pyrrho.

What TRON Proposal 107 Changes

Proposal 107 introduces several changes to the TRON Virtual Machine, or TVM, which provides the execution environment for smart contracts on the network.

The upgrade includes four key technical additions.

Historical block hash queries will allow smart contracts to access data from earlier blocks without relying on additional workarounds. The proposal also introduces the CLZ opcode, which is designed to improve the efficiency of certain mathematical operations used in smart contract code.

Another change is native support for secp256r1, enabling Passkey verification directly on the network. Passkeys are increasingly used as an alternative to traditional password-based authentication.

The proposal also reduces the energy consumption associated with MODEXP operations. By lowering the computing resources required for certain cryptographic calculations, the change could reduce the cost associated with executing more complex smart contracts.

Compatibility With Ethereum

The features included in Proposal 107 are not unique to TRON. Similar capabilities have been incorporated into Ethereum's development roadmap.

TRON DAO's decision to implement comparable functionality is intended to improve compatibility between the two ecosystems. Greater alignment could allow tools and smart contracts designed for one network to be adapted to the other with fewer modifications.

The changes are being introduced as part of TRON's GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 release, known as Pyrrho.

TRON Mainnet Voting Timeline

Voting on Proposal 107 began on August 25, 2026. According to the DAO's official X post, the proposed effective date is August 28, 2026, at 14:00 SGT.

The exact activation block remained listed as TBD as of this writing.

TRON committee proposals are decided through stake-weighted voting by the network's elected Super Representatives.

If Proposal 107 receives the required approval before the voting period ends, the TVM upgrade is expected to become active on the stated date without requiring additional action from regular TRX holders.

TRX Price and Network Activity

TRX was trading at $0.3427, giving the token a market capitalization of $32.528 billion and 24-hour trading volume of $449.673 million, according to CoinGecko data.

The token had gained more than 3% over the previous week and 3.2% over the past month. At its current price, TRX remained roughly 20% below its all-time high of $0.4313.

Network activity also provides additional context ahead of the vote. Token Terminal data cited by TRON DAO showed that USDT on TRON increased by $1.1 billion over the past 30 days. According to the cited data, this represented the fastest growth among the networks tracked by the firm and was more than eight times the $130.3 million increase recorded on Aptos, the second-fastest-growing chain.

TRON also reported 400 million accounts on the network.

These figures provide indicators of network activity, but they do not directly establish future demand for TRX. Stablecoin growth and account numbers measure aspects of network usage, while TRX's market price is also affected by broader cryptocurrency market conditions, exchange flows and macroeconomic factors.

Could Proposal 107 Affect TRX's Price?

The upcoming vote places TRON's technical development alongside recent network activity as investors monitor the potential market impact of the upgrade.

A successful activation could support market interest in the network, particularly if USDT activity continues to expand. However, approval of a technical proposal does not guarantee a specific movement in the price of TRX.

TRX could move toward its $0.4313 all-time high if buying pressure increases, but the proposal itself does not provide assurance of such a move. Conversely, a rejected or delayed vote could affect short-term market sentiment.

The relationship between network upgrades and token performance therefore remains dependent on factors beyond the proposal, including broader market conditions and actual network usage.

What TRX Holders Should Watch

The next major checkpoint is August 28, 2026, when Proposal 107 is scheduled to become effective if it receives the required approval.

Three developments will be particularly relevant. The first is whether the Super Representatives approve the proposal. The second is whether the network confirms the activation block according to schedule. The third is whether USDT supply on TRON continues to grow at its current pace.

A slowdown in stablecoin growth or failure of the proposal could weaken the current positive case surrounding the network. Conversely, a successful activation combined with continued USDT inflows would provide further evidence of ongoing activity on TRON.

For now, Proposal 107 represents a significant technical update under consideration by TRON's governance system, with the outcome of the vote and the planned August 28 activation serving as the next key milestones.
