Pi Network Protocol v26.1 Officially Completed, Only One Upgrade Remains

Pi Network is once again drawing attention from the Crypto community after Protocol v26.1 was reportedly marked as completed on the Node Roadmap. The development has shifted the focus of Pioneers toward the next stage that could prove even more significant: Protocol v27.1.

The information was shared by X account @amr_nannaware, whose post stated that the Pi Core Team had officially marked Protocol v26.1 as completed on the Node upgrade roadmap. The post also highlighted the sequence of protocol versions that had been completed, beginning with 19.1 and progressing through 26.1.

However, one important distinction needs to be made. The v26.1 completion status referenced in the community post should be separated from official announcements made directly by Pi Network. Based on the official information available, Pi continues to carry out protocol upgrades in stages, while specific details regarding Protocol v27.1 and its launch date still require confirmation from the Pi Core Team.

That makes the reported completion of v26.1 important not because it automatically means Pi Coin will experience a price change, but because it demonstrates continued development of the underlying Pi Network blockchain infrastructure.

From Protocol 19 to v26.1

Pi Network's recent upgrade history shows that the network has not been developed through one single major change.

Instead, Pi has gone through a series of protocol improvements over time. In its official Pi Day 2026 update, the Core Team explained that Testnet1 had previously been used to test upgrade processes and had reached Protocol v23 by September 2025.
