Grayscale Launches First U.S. Zcash ETF ZCSH on NYSE Arca
Grayscale has launched the Zcash ETF, trading under the ticker ZCSH, on NYSE Arca, marking the first U.S. exchange-traded product focused on ZEC, according to information shared by @WuBlockchain on X.
The product began trading on Aug. 25 after being converted from the Grayscale Zcash Trust. As of Aug. 24, the fund had approximately $314 million in assets under management and held roughly 387,200 ZEC.
ZCSH carries a 2.5% management fee. Grayscale has also outlined a plan for using revenue generated from that fee, with a portion of management fee revenue allocated toward supporting the Zcash ecosystem and marketing the product.
The launch gives U.S. investors access to an exchange-traded investment product focused specifically on Zcash without requiring direct ownership of ZEC.
ZCSH Begins Trading on NYSE Arca
The Grayscale Zcash ETF officially began trading on NYSE Arca on Aug. 25.
The fund was converted from the existing Grayscale Zcash Trust, transforming the investment vehicle into an exchange-traded product. According to the information provided, ZCSH is the first U.S. exchange-traded product focused on ZEC.
The conversion represents a structural change in how investors can gain exposure to Zcash through traditional financial markets.
Exchange-traded products trade through established securities exchanges, allowing investors to gain market exposure through brokerage accounts rather than managing cryptocurrency directly. The structure can provide a more familiar investment mechanism for participants who already use conventional financial-market infrastructure.
Zcash, represented by the ZEC token, is a cryptocurrency designed with privacy-focused transaction features. The launch of a dedicated U.S. exchange-traded product places the asset within a regulated exchange-trading environment.
Fund Holds Roughly 387,200 ZEC
As of Aug. 24, ZCSH had about $314 million in assets under management and held roughly 387,200 ZEC.
The figures provide a snapshot of the fund's holdings immediately before trading began on NYSE Arca. The amount of ZEC held by the product represents its underlying cryptocurrency exposure.
The fund's assets under management can change as the value of ZEC fluctuates and as investors buy or sell shares of the ETF.
ZCSH also has a 2.5% management fee. This fee represents the cost associated with managing the investment product and is separate from any changes in the market value of the underlying asset.
The launch therefore combines direct exposure to Zcash with the structure of a conventional exchange-traded investment product.
Grayscale Details Management Fee Allocation
Grayscale has also provided details about how management fee revenue will be used following the launch.
The company said management fee revenue for up to 12 months following the effectiveness of the registration statement will be used to support the Zcash ecosystem and product marketing.
This means a portion of the revenue generated through the fund's management fee is intended to support activities connected with the broader Zcash ecosystem, as well as efforts to markets the investment product.
The policy applies for up to 12 months following the effectiveness of the registration statement, according to the information provided.
Grayscale's approach creates a connection between the ETF's commercial operations and activities supporting the underlying cryptocurrency ecosystem.
First U.S. Exchange-Traded Product Focused on ZEC
The launch of ZCSH represents a notable development for investors seeking exposure to Zcash through U.S. financial markets.
Rather than purchasing and holding ZEC directly, investors can obtain exposure through shares of an exchange-traded product listed on NYSE Arca. The structure places Zcash within a familiar framework for investors who already use traditional brokerage and exchange infrastructure.
The conversion from the Grayscale Zcash Trust also allows an existing investment vehicle to operate in the ETF format.
According to the information shared on X, no other U.S. exchange-traded product focused on ZEC had preceded ZCSH, making the Aug. 25 launch the first of its kind in the U.S. market.
Zcash Gains a New Investment Vehicle
ZCSH enters the market with approximately $314 million in assets under management and roughly 387,200 ZEC held as of Aug. 24. Its 2.5% management fee and Grayscale's stated plan for allocating fee revenue provide additional details about the product's structure.
The ETF's debut on NYSE Arca gives investors another avenue for gaining exposure to Zcash while allowing the asset to trade through established U.S. market infrastructure.
Grayscale's decision to use management fee revenue for up to 12 months to support the Zcash ecosystem and product marketing further links the investment product to the development and promotion of its underlying asset.
The launch of ZCSH marks the beginning of Zcash's presence in this particular U.S. exchange-traded format, with the product now available for trading on NYSE Arca.
