FG Nexus Sells All Ethereum Holdings, Ends Crypto Treasury Strategy
FG Nexus has ended its Ethereum-focused treasury strategy less than a year after making ETH the centerpiece of its corporate digital-asset plan, marking a major shift in direction for the Nasdaq-listed company.
The company had built a substantial Ethereum position after announcing its digital-asset treasury strategy in 2025. Its holdings later climbed above 50,000 ETH before FG Nexus began reducing its exposure as management reassessed the company's long-term strategy.
By June 30, 2026, FG Nexus had sold all of its digital assets and held no cryptocurrency at the end of the second quarter. The decision effectively brings an end to one of the more closely watched corporate Ethereum treasury strategies among publicly traded companies.
FG Nexus said in July that its board had authorized management to continue reducing exposure to digital assets and exit the digital-asset business while establishing a new real-estate operating subsidiary.
The development was also highlighted by crypto-focused account @WuBlockchain, adding attention to the company's rapid transition away from Ethereum and toward traditional real estate assets.

FG Nexus Moves Away From Ethereum
FG Nexus, which trades on Nasdaq under the ticker FGNX, shifted its corporate strategy in 2025 to focus heavily on Ethereum and tokenization opportunities.
The company described ETH as its primary treasury asset and positioned the strategy around the potential growth of programmable finance, digital capital markets and blockchain-based infrastructure.
At the end of 2025, FG Nexus reported holding 40,093 ETH with an estimated fair value of approximately $119.4 million. By March 31, 2026, its portfolio consisted of 20,637 ETH and 7,659 wrapped staked ETH, with a combined estimated fair value of about $60.7 million.
The figures demonstrate how dramatically the company's exposure changed during the first half of 2026.
Rather than continuing to build its Ethereum reserves, FG Nexus ultimately decided to liquidate its remaining digital assets.
More Than $60 Million in ETH Sale Proceeds
The company's exit from digital assets generated significant cash proceeds.
FG Nexus received approximately $60.956 million from Ethereum sales during the first half of 2026. An additional $14.983 million in proceeds was reportedly collected in July.
However, the liquidation also came with substantial losses.
The company's discontinued digital-asset operations recorded an overall loss of approximately $45.207 million, including a $41.167 million loss associated with its ETH digital assets.
The results underline the risks involved in corporate cryptocurrency treasury strategies.
Companies that accumulate digital assets can benefit when prices rise, but they can also face significant losses when market values decline or assets are sold below their carrying or acquisition values.
Ethereum Treasury Strategy Ends Quickly
FG Nexus launched its Ethereum treasury strategy in 2025, making its decision to abandon the strategy less than a year later particularly notable.
Corporate crypto treasury strategies became increasingly popular as companies sought alternatives to traditional cash reserves and attempted to gain exposure to the growth of digital assets.
Ethereum was particularly attractive to companies interested in blockchain infrastructure because ETH serves not only as a tradable asset but also as the native asset powering the Ethereum network.
FG Nexus initially sought to connect its treasury strategy with broader opportunities involving tokenized real-world assets.
The company's filings described plans involving areas such as affordable housing, reinsurance and real estate.
The strategy ultimately proved difficult to sustain.
Staking Generated Only Limited Revenue
FG Nexus also attempted to generate additional income from its Ethereum holdings through staking.
However, the company's staking operations generated only approximately $144,000 in revenue.
That amount was relatively small compared with the losses recorded by the digital-asset business.
The limited staking income highlights one of the challenges facing corporate Ethereum treasury strategies.
Although staking can potentially provide recurring ETH-denominated returns, those returns may not be sufficient to offset significant declines in the value of the underlying assets or other costs associated with maintaining a digital-asset operation.
For FG Nexus, the economics ultimately favored exiting the sector.
Management Shifts Focus to Real Estate
The company's next strategy is centered on real estate.
FG Nexus announced plans to establish a new real-estate operating subsidiary focused primarily on acquiring land-lease manufactured housing properties.
The company said it intends to reallocate capital from digital assets toward real estate acquisitions and build a platform focused on tangible assets and income-producing affordable housing.
The move represents a significant change in the company's investment philosophy.
Instead of relying on the price appreciation of cryptocurrency, FG Nexus is now looking toward physical properties that can potentially generate recurring income.
Manufactured housing communities are a particularly notable target because they can provide rental income while requiring a different capital structure and operating model from cryptocurrency investments.
Potential FG Communities Transaction Remains Under Review
FG Nexus has also discussed a potential combination involving FG Communities, a real estate company focused on manufactured housing communities.
However, the transaction remains preliminary.
The company has not reached a definitive agreement, meaning there is no guarantee that the proposed combination will ultimately be completed.
FG Nexus said the planned real estate subsidiary, together with the potential combination with FG Communities, could accelerate its expansion into affordable housing and create a foundation for longer-term growth.
Investors will therefore be watching closely for additional announcements about the proposed transaction.
A Sharp Reversal From the 2025 Strategy
The decision to abandon digital assets represents a sharp reversal from FG Nexus's position just months ago.
In its 2025 filings, the company described Ethereum as the foundation of its digital-asset strategy and emphasized the potential role of blockchain technology in decentralized finance, stablecoins and tokenized assets.
FG Nexus also stated that it wanted to commercialize real-world asset tokenization while maintaining ETH as its primary treasury asset.
The company's subsequent decision to sell its cryptocurrency holdings shows how quickly corporate strategies can change in response to market conditions, capital requirements and shareholder considerations.
For investors, the shift also raises questions about how other public companies will manage cryptocurrency treasury strategies during periods of market volatility.
Corporate Ethereum Treasuries Face a New Test
FG Nexus is not alone in experimenting with cryptocurrency as a corporate treasury asset.
Over the past several years, publicly traded companies have increasingly explored holding Bitcoin, Ethereum and other digital assets on their balance sheets.
These strategies can offer companies exposure to cryptocurrency markets without operating a crypto exchange or blockchain business.
However, they also introduce significant volatility.
A company that holds a large amount of ETH can see the value of its treasury change substantially in a short period.
That volatility can affect financial statements, investor sentiment and the company's ability to deploy capital elsewhere.
FG Nexus's experience provides a clear example of how quickly such strategies can be reversed.
Real Estate Could Provide a More Traditional Business Model
The company's new focus on real estate offers a fundamentally different investment approach.
Land-lease manufactured housing properties can generate rental income and may provide more predictable cash flows than digital assets.
The strategy also aligns with FG Nexus's existing interests in real estate and merchant banking.
Before its Ethereum-focused transition, the company had already been involved in merchant banking activities and real estate-related ventures.
Its latest plan therefore represents not necessarily a complete departure from its historical operations, but a return to a more traditional asset-based strategy.
What FG Nexus Investors Will Watch Next
The biggest question for investors is whether FG Nexus can successfully transform the capital recovered from its Ethereum sales into a sustainable real-estate business.
The company has already formally authorized the establishment of its new real estate division.
However, its potential transaction with FG Communities remains under preliminary review, and no definitive agreement has been reached.
That leaves several important steps ahead.
FG Nexus will need to identify suitable properties, deploy capital effectively and establish an operating platform capable of generating reliable returns.
At the same time, investors will likely continue monitoring the company's balance sheet following the liquidation of its digital assets.
The End of an Ethereum Experiment
FG Nexus's decision to sell its entire digital-asset portfolio represents one of the clearest examples of a publicly traded company abandoning an Ethereum treasury strategy after launching it with significant ambitions.
The company once envisioned ETH as a core component of its corporate treasury and a gateway to opportunities in tokenization and decentralized finance.
Less than a year later, that strategy has ended.
With all digital assets sold by June 30, FG Nexus is now preparing for a new chapter centered on real estate, manufactured housing and tangible assets.
The transition will ultimately be judged by whether the company can turn the proceeds from its Ethereum exit into a profitable and sustainable business.
For now, FG Nexus has made its direction clear: the company's Ethereum treasury experiment is over, and its next bet is on real estate.
